USO's In the Bible

Not only are air exsursions reffered to in the bible (Old Testament), but the ability to dive and remain under water is evident also.

He made his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies -Psalm 18:11

The voice of Yahweh is upon many waters : the creator of glory thundereth: Yahweh is upon many waters -Psalm 29:3

Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known -Psalm 77:19

Thou didst wal through the sea with thine horses , through the heap of great waters -Habbukuk 3:15

And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not. -Ist Kings 18:44

One of the clearest indications that Yahweh had underwater vessels is found in the book of Yonah.

Now Yahweh had prepared a great fish to swallow up Yonah. And Yonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights - Jonah 1:17
Certian verses are clearly a description of what Yonah saw through a transparent front as the craft submerged into the murky deep.

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, Yahweh my Creator. -Yonah 2:3,5-6

Indications that this sea creature was not a whale, but a submarine are: 1. it was 'prepared' by Yahweh to 'swallow yo Yonah', 2. he remained in it for some time (traditonally three days) able to breath and pray, and was later put out of it not much worse for the experience, and 3. Yonah was evidently able to see out as he descended " to the bottoms of the mountians,"as the waters closed over him, This experience concieved Yonah to be a prophet, a situation from which previously he had fled.

Another creature of the sea is that mysterious and frighteninh monster called Leviathan. Scholars have identified is as a whale, or a shark ,or a creature now extinct. But scripture desribes it adequately enough for us now to recognize it as a water-bone vessel, Of this strange creature it was said: His scales are his pride, shut up togeather as with a close seal.

One is so near to another, that no air can come between them. They are joined one to another, they stick togeather, that they cannot be sundered. By his nessing -origanl Hebrew 'sneezings'-, a light doth shine , and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.

Out of his nostrils goesth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth. In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him. The flakes of his flesh are joined togeathe: they are firm in themsleves; they cannot be moved....Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.-Job 41:15-23,30

This monster is desribed as having a rigid outer layer of 'scales', completly sealed, or air tight. When he sneezes (discharges or pulsates), light is emitted. From his ' mouth' comes fire and from his 'nostrils' smoke. His 'eyes' (either windows or some parth of his outward appearence) were like the 'eyelids' of the morning, which in the original Hebrew means a fluttering light or slashing ray of light.

When he travels through the water he leaves a path of light, or a glittering wake; a white fleece that floated on the deeps (JB 1966).

This sea creature made the water boil, and was like 'a pot of ointment," which means in original Hebrew " a spiced, unguent kettle' meaning there was great heat connected with it, and it released some discharge into the water which had a strong odor.
This discharge may also may also have caused the 'glittering wake' and may have been phosphorescent or radioactive.
